have suffered oppression in a racist and sexist society. The story
consists seven nameless African-American women who are only identified by the
colours they wore.
The play features actresses like Carol King, Osas Ighodaro, Matilda Obaseki ,Oreka Godis, Diana Yekinni and Ade Laoye.
Speaking about the stage play, Carol King
said, “Being a Coloured Girl goes beyond skin colour. For me, it
represents the travails every girl-child goes through and the fortitude
needed for her individual journey to womanhood.”
In her remarks, Osas said, “To be an
artistic voice today and directly or indirectly touching base with past
and current issues concerning all women and the girl-child means the
world to me.”
